No one's commenting because it's just brain drivel and excuses.

Everyone always thinks they have THE answer that no one has ever had before." Oh yes, surely YOU have the perfect excuse that no one has EVER had to act like a total prig.

This obviously is not a post about the relative irrelevance of Christianity or religion in general. Obviously the writer has just enough info to be dangerous and just enough wrong info to feel justified. Sadly, if he had any level of sense, he would realize that the fact that he had to jump through all these mental hoops to justify his laziness should be an indicator that he has made a lapse in judgment.

Please, feel free do do what you want in life. Please engage your brain and stop blaming others for your shallowness and narrow point of view.

Last night at a blogger meetup, someone commented in person that her cat Thor was very upset that I don't believe in him. :)

As for God making Lot's wife barren as punishment for looking back at her home...well, that's no less evil. It's just less creative. So it's not much of an improvement!

Why has no one commented on this yet?

To go off on a tangent, I've always been interested in the effects of long-term and multiple transliterations of religious doctrine. For instance:

"He turns poor Lot’s wife into a pillar of salt for having the audacity to look at her home as she flees it (okay; a pillar of salt is creative. But still.)."

There's a theory (so sorry, but I've forgotten whose) that God didn't literally turn Lot's wife into a pillar of salt, but that she was "turned to salt" in the figurative sense of the times, meaning he made her barren as punishment. And since that sort of thing just isn't identifiable as as instant internal "poof - hey, my uterus just stopped working", who would really know?

Yeah, I know. This was about religion/faith/lack thereof, not linguistics, but I have a one-track mind sometimes.

Dude, nice post as usual. You have a great writing style- i almost snorked my tea through my nose when i read "Still, I’m armed with a spreadsheet so I will press on."
And a brief note: as one of the oldest members of your demographic, i find you not only not annoying but actually usually witty & charming.
Please do press on.
